The RISC5 FPGA implementation of Project Oberon has recently been attracting some attention in the wider community:

Elektor Magazine:

"No Linux, no Python, it's Oberon all the way":

No python, no php, no c++, and best of all, no strings.

The only thing Oberon is useful for seems to be embedded programming because you rarely need to deal with 5000 character strings on an 8 character LCD screen....

No strings attached, folks. Do quiche eaters put spinach strings in their quiche... well no spinach strings are needed for embedded systems.

Well, that's a good welcome to the group -- finding that someone has posted a link to my article! :-)

Hello folks. I've joined as there seems to be next to no activity on the Oberon mailing list -- I've had one email in a week.

Ever since discovering the FPGA machine and the OS, I have been intrigued. That's why I wrote that piece.

I believe there is now a bare-metal Oberon machine emulator for the RasPi. What I was wondering was if anyone was looking at doing a native port of the OS?

Be careful what you wish for! You picked the wrong week to join the ETH Oberon mailing list - that is the one you mean I assume. There were about 50 emails in the previous week. Never mind, you can still access them here in the mailing list archives while you are waiting for something new to arrive:
